Background to Fisher Engineering
Mr Tommy Fisher founded Fisher Engineering in Ballinamallard in 1950. Starting with a blacksmith's workshop servicing the local farming community, the business steadily developed throughout the 1950's and 1960's. In the early 1970's the second generation of the family joined the business and the emphasis changed to structural steelwork for industry and commercial projects. At this time the company had a workforce of 14 and operated from 500 square metres of workspace.
During the 1970's, 80's and 90's successive expansions of the business took place and substantial investment was made in facilities and technology. Today the business is seen as one of the leading structural steel fabricators in Europe, with a facility extending to 21,000 square metres, and capacity to design, fabricate, paint and erect up to 25,000 tonnes of structural steelwork annually.
With an emphasis on quality and delivery deadlines, a sustained policy of capital reinvestment, coupled with a dedicated and loyal workforce close on 200, the business has achieved considerable success and is well positioned to face the challenges of the 21st Century. Fisher Engineering has an impressive portfolio of projects to its credit including Castlecourt Shopping Centre, Waterfront Concert Hall and the Odyssey Arena, two Cement factories for the Quinn Group, major facilities for Coca Cola and Intel and a 15,000 tonne Bio Technology Campus in Dublin for Wyeth Medica, the major American Corporation.
The Directors, Shareholders and Staff of Fisher Engineering wish to acknowledge the professional contribution and the key role played in the development and success of the company by Mr Bertie Fisher, their managing director since 1978.
